The CHC Business Office consists of Third Party Billing, Purchased and Referred Care Program and Patient Registration/Switchboard. It is designed as a management system for assuring the most cost-effective means of supporting the health care needs of the MS Band of Choctaw Indians and other Native Americans in an efficient manner by striving to maximize reimbursements of revenues from Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and all other alternate resources for which Mississippi Choctaws and other Native Americans and their beneficiaries are eligible.

The Coding department currently consists of 2 FT Coders, 1 Remote Contract Coder, a Coding Assistant, and the Coding Manager. Coding personnel are responsible for entering, monitoring, and approving patient visit information within the computerized database using the ICD-10 and CPT coding systems. Coding is the act of the medical coder selecting the information from the documentation, assigning the appropriate codes, and completing this act will create a claim to be paid which is sent to billing before being processed.

The goal of Dietary and Nutrition Services is to provide clients with the best possible comprehensive nutrition services as a part of their total care. Meals and extra nourishments are prepared and served by highly trained and qualified staff to all patients admitted into the Inpatient Department at CHC, as well as their guests and to paying customers. Meals are attractively served, palatable, nutritionally adequate, therapeutically correct and culturally acceptable. Registered Dietitians also provide nutrition assessments and/or counseling to CHC clients.

The Information Technology (IT) department provides computer and phone support throughout the hospital, in addition to the outlying clinics at BogueChitto, Conehatta, and Red Water. The new hospital will offer new challenges to the IT department as we will be implementing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) which will be our phone system and adding an additional 200 PC's. The new hospital will have wireless capabilities for the providers. We are ready and willing to take on these new responsibilities and to better serve the Choctaw people.

The Managed Care Department coordinates and manages the overall care for CHC patients. The case managers review all referrals and work closely with schedulers for providing a continuum of care for patients. The case managers serve as a point of contacts for patients concerning questions about their appointments.

The Procurement Department is responsible for purchasing all Choctaw Health Center equipment, supplies and services while ensuring that quality, safety, and cost effectiveness is achieved. Procurement is responsible for tracking supplies, safekeeping all equipment, and maintaining a complete and current inventory of all itemspurchased by the Choctaw Health Center.

The Purchased and Referred Care division of the Business Office has the primary responsibility of ensuring bills for contracted health services are paid in a timely and efficient manner. The funds are given to Choctaw Health Center by Indian health Services and the rules and regulations regarding the expenditures of this funding are established by Indian Health Services.

The special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded program. Its emphasis is on nutrition education primarily targeting low-income families with pregnant, breast-feeding and postpartum women, and infants and children up to age five who are at nutritional risk. Other benefits provided by the WIC program include referrals for health/social services and food prescription (voucher) for eligible individuals.
