The Choctaw Health Center (CHC) proudly announces the 10-year anniversary of its state-of-the-art facility, which has been serving the health needs of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians since opening March 15, 2015. This milestone celebrates not only the success of our building but also nearly five decades of unwavering commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to the Choctaw community. To commemorate this milestone, CHC hosted an anniversary celebration and open house on Monday March 17, 2025, at 2:30 pm.

"As we celebrate this anniversary, we commemorate not just the building; but we honor the commitment of CHC’s entire staff to the healthcare of our Choctaw people," said Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben. "We are proud of the Choctaw Health Center's legacy and thrilled for its future as a cornerstone of health in our community."

A modern and expansive healthcare hub, CHC’s new building was designed to deliver comprehensive medical services, including primary care, emergency services, dental care, mental health services, and specialized treatments. This new facility has enabled the expansion of health services, enhanced patient care, and improved health outcomes. With advanced technology and a focus on patient-centered care, CHC is positioned to meet the complex healthcare needs of its growing population.

As it celebrates 10 years, we look forward to continuing Choctaw Health Center’s tradition of service to future generations. Plans are underway to further enhance services and integrate more innovative healthcare practices that reflect the growing trends in health and wellness.

"This 10th anniversary of our building marks a significant chapter in our continued mission to provide exceptional care to our Tribal community," said Mary Harrison, Interim Health Director of Choctaw Health Center. "While our building is modern, our mission remains rooted in the values that have guided us for almost 50 years: compassionate care, cultural respect, and community well-being."

Established in 1975, Choctaw Health Center began as a modest healthcare facility under Indian Health Services designed to meet the medical needs of Tribal Members. Over the years, the Center grew in scope and services due the demand of the patient’s needs. The Tribe took over management of the facility from Indian Health Services in 1983 and promoted Self-Governance in 1994. In 2015 as a joint venture project with Indian Health Services, CHC moved into its current building.

For 50 years, Choctaw Health Center has stood as a trusted healthcare partner for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. With the support of its dedicated personnel, community, and leadership, CHC will continue its mission of improving health outcomes and ensuring the well-being of the Choctaw people and those they serve for many generations to come.
