To expedite care, it's important to be prepared with the necessary information our emergency room staff needs to begin diagnosis and treatment. Please bring the following information with you in case of an emergency:
During an emergency room visit, you will be triaged by a nurse to determine the severity of your condition. Patients are seen based on triage level, not in the order that you arrive. You will then be evaluated by a doctor or other medical professional who will assess your symptoms, order any necessary tests or imaging, and provide treatment.
The tests and treatments you receive will depend on the nature and severity of your condition. Common tests and treatments include blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, medication administration, and wound care.
The length of your emergency room visit can vary widely depending on the severity of your condition, the number of patients in the ER, transfers, ambulance patients, admissions and the tests and treatments you require. Some visits may take just a few hours, while others may require an overnight stay or longer.
Adult patients can have 1 visitor and pediatric patients can have 2 visitors. Per Choctaw Health Center policy, only if the provider states that it is ok to have visitors depending on the patient's health status.

1. Registration
The ER Clerk checks you in, and confirms your home address, email, phone number, next-of-kin, emergency contact, and health insurance.
2. Triage
A nurse reviews your symptoms, measures your heart rate, breathing, weight and blood pressure. We then move you to a treatment room.
3. Evaluation
Your doctor and nurse coordinate your care, deliver a diagnosis and plan treatment. To determine a diagnosis, your doctor may order blood tests, urine tests, or imaging studies such as an X-ray, CT or an MRI. After reviewing test results, and explaining a diagnosis, your doctor recommends a treatment plan.
4. Treatment
Your care team provides treatment and answers any questions you may have.
5. Discharge
When it's time for you to go home, our team gives you detailed discharge instructions. We coordinate follow-up care and send prescription medications to the Choctaw Health Center Pharmacy.
