About

The Choctaw Farmer's Market is a cooperative effort between MBCI Department of Natural Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development and the MBCI WIC Program. It targets the nutritionally vulnerable such as the elderly, disabled, and children under the age of 5. The market is the tribe's primary outlet of fresh agricultural products to eligible families.
Specially selected, locally produced fruit and vegetable products are provided by carefully screened farmers, who are either tribal members or local food growers, to ensure excellent quality and nutritious food.

Who is eligible?

  • Certified WIC participants - WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program
  • Tribal members aged 55 and over - Elderly Produce Program
  • All tribal members who are 55 years and older who are income eligible - Senior Farmers' Market
  • Tribal members who are disabled and are 20 years of age through 54 years - Fresh Produce for the Disabled

How to Apply

  • Applicants may pick up applications at the WIC Department or Elderly Center or may request via email to Chiral Stephens at [email protected].
  • All applicants must provide a copy of their ID.
  • Disabled applicants must provide a copy of their TPQY Benefits Verification (Proof of Disability).
  • Enrolled WIC Participants are automatically eligible for Farmer's Market.

How does it work?

  • WIC participants do not need to use their card at Farmer's Market. The $30 benefit amount is NOT deducted from the benefits on the WIC card. Farmer's Market benefits are separate from the benefit on the WIC card.
  • WIC participants can designate someone to pick up the fruits and vegetables for them. You may call WIC Department to indicate who you would like to pick up the items for you. (This is considered a proxy).
  • Every year a WIC participant must submit a new driver's license, tribal ID or CDIB to receive services.
