The purpose of the Tribal Environment Health Services (TEHS) program is dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the health of our community by monitoring the relationship between people and their environment. We aim to mitigate environmental factors impacting human health while working collaboratively with tribal, state, and federal partners.
Services We Offer
Food Safety
Conducts food permit inspections and provides food handler training to prevent foodborne illness and control foodborne outbreaks.
Vectorborne and Communicable Disease
Provides vector control by seasonal mosquito spraying and investigates pest control issues to prevent the spread of vectorborne and communicable diseases.
Community Injury Prevention
Monitors community activities to reduce severe injuries and deaths due to unintentional and intentional injuries among the Tribal population.
Occupational Health and Safety
The Safety and Emergency Management program aims to prevent occupational injuries, illnesses and fatalities in the work environment, Choctaw communities and during natural or manmade disasters.
Indoor Air Quality Assessment
Conducts air quality inspections to prevent illness among populations which may be caused by indoor as well as outdoor air quality.
Epidemiological Investigations of Communicable Disease Outbreaks
Conducts food permit inspections and provides food handler training to prevent foodborne illness and control foodborne outbreaks.
Sanitation Facilities Projects, under P.L. 86-121
Conducts investigation of sanitation and Manages IHS funded projects as it relates to water and wastewater.
